Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)
What is the Child Dental Benefits Schedule?
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) was introduced by the Australian Federal Government, in 2014. The CDBS is designed to help keep your kids maintaining great oral health and hygiene by providing you with up to $1000 that you can use over a two year period on a range of dental services including examinations, cleaning, fillings, and root canals.
Does the Child Dental Benefits Schedule cover all treatments?
The Child Dental Benefits Schedule doesn’t cover orthodontic treatment, cosmetic dental procedures, or any work that might need to be done in a hospital. If you aren’t sure what’s covered, just ask us! See our Children’s Dentistry page for more on what we offer.
Your Child’s Eligibility
Your child is considered eligible for Medicare’s CDBS, if:
- they qualify for Medicare;
- they’re within the applicable age range for at least some of the year;
- and you receive either Family Tax Benefit Part A, Parenting payment or Double Orphan Pension payments for at least some part of the year.
It’s worth confirming with Medicare, or the team at Murwillumbah Dental, that your child still qualifies for CDBS before booking an appointment. If you discover your child is not eligible, we advise you to contact our practice to discuss how we can assist.
